Ability First Ottawa
Housing navigation, life-skills and training and parenting support for persons with disabilities in the ottawa region
Ability First Ottawa (AFO) is a non-profit organization that provides comprehensive services and support to individuals (with or without developmental disabilities) and their families.
Services include our monthly “Awesome Mondays” Life-skills and Training Program, the Housing Navigation Program, and the Parent Support Program.
Monetary donations and Community Sponsors are welcome to ensure that we can continue offering quality services to our participants and their families.
Monthly “Awesome Mondays” Life-skills & Training Program
AFO offers monthly sessions in order to provide life-skills and training; as well as social get-togethers and fieldtrips for our participants. Each month, a community member will be able to sponsor an event or class session. Benefits of sponsoring include promotion and visibility on the website and social media, as well as public speaking opportunities.
Housing Navigation Program
AFO is currently in need of more donations to provide support to individuals with disabilities living in the homelessness system. Please help us in assisting these vulnerable members of our community in obtaining safe, market-rental housing. Being homeless is EXTREMELY dangerous for individuals with developmental disabilities, and Ability First Ottawa is working tirelessly to provide this population with the support they desperately require.
Parent Support Program
AFO provides resources & information to single parents that help them to create better lives for themselves and their children. Includes support group meetings in collaboration with Single Parenting for Success Co. Ltd.
