A cavalcade of aircraft spanning almost a century of Canadian aviation will be on show in the air and on the ground at Rockcliffe Airport, Ottawa over the weekend of 23rd & 24th August.
In conjunction with the Canada Aviation Museum (CAM) and Vintage Wings of Canada (VWOC), Flightworks is bringing the Classic Air Rallye back again for 2008, even better than previous years. Plans are set for a display of the whole of the VWOC fleet as well as visiting aircraft from across Canada and the United States, whether in static display or flypast. Commencing at 9 am each day and running continuously until 5 pm. the Air Rallye also embraces World War II re-enactors, classic cars and motorcycles, aviation products, childrens entertainment and concession stalls for food, drink and souvenirs.
Rather than the thunderous "boom and zoom" type airshow, the Classic Air Rallye evokes a more romantic era in aviation. Rather than a distant spectacle, the Rallye encourages interaction amongst all the participants - pilots, veterans, youth, re-enactors and visitors. Stroll among the aircraft and listen to the stories and then tell yours.
