About Pugsley Dingman Company
Archie Dingman (1850-1936), a descendant of United Empire Loyalists, was born near Picton Ontario in 1850. In the 1880's he started Pugsley Dingman Soap Company. Comfort Soap became the company's most popular brand name in the late 1880's. This dolly dates to the late 1800's or early 1900's. At the company's peak they churned out 100,000 bars of soap a day at their factory in Toronto. Lever Bros. eventually purchased the company.
