Intro to Boxing - Level 1:
This class is perfect for beginners! Participants will learn the basic fundamentals of boxing which consists of learning how to properly wrap hands, stance, movement, throw different punches and combinations. This class will focus on also learning various techniques involving defensive & offensive tactics (NOT full contact). The first half of class will begin with a 10 minute warm-up (skipping, jogging, etc), followed by learning new skills and practicing with a partner. Then ending the class with a few conditioning drills which may include punching the focus mitt's & a variety of body weight exercises concentrating on core, legs, back & chest. This class welcomes all levels of skill from the beginner to advanced athletes. Equipment is provided (Boxing Gloves, Focus Mitts & Hand Wraps).
Intro to Boxing - Level 2:
This program will develop offense & defensive skills by applying advanced techniques. Participants will learn tactics such as; body punching, slipping punches, feinting punches, duck & rolling punches and counter punching. A knowledge of the basic fundamentals of boxing is required in order to partake in this class.
Intro to Boxing - Level 3:
Level 3 is an introduction to sparring. Participants in this class will have the opportunity to practice what they learned in level 1 & 2 against a live opponent. Light contact sparring drills will be practiced with a partner to develop punches, combinations and defensive skill. This program focuses heavily on strategy and tactics which will ultimately improve hand and eye coordination. The class will begin with a 10 minute warm-up (skipping, shadow boxing) followed by detailed instructions and practicing specific drills with a partner. Sparring gear is mandatory and is provided (Head Guard with Face Shield, 16 oz Sparring Gloves, Mouth Guard). However, participants are able to bring their own equipment from home.
