Super-A JVC R-S33 was second to the TOTL R-S77 and has great aesthetics, quite pretty at night when lit up.
Has great build, there's no plastic here - it's an all aluminium faceplate.
JVC's Super A non-switching amplification is defined as offering
"the distortion-free sound of a class-A amp, and the efficiency of a class-B amp."
The output transistors remain in Class A up to a far higher wattage output than ordinary receivers.
This produces a far cleaner three dimensional sound than that from common units.
The reason this unit is extraordinary, is because for little money, you can achieve a high end sound quality, given a good quality signal and excellent speakers.
Google search gave these quotes:
"In their price range these sound great and are very reliable.
I personally don't care for the sliders, but in the mid 80's we had one used set up next to a used NAD 7020
and the JVC sounded somewhat better."
"This is a nice little receiver. It retailed for US$345 back in 1980.
That's about $980 in 2015 dollars. A strong 40 watts per channel. The sound is nice and clear."
I've been collecting vintage stereos for a long time, so trades for old Marantz, Philips, Kenwood, JBL, Sherwood, Tannoy, Sansui, Luxman, Pioneer, NAD, Scott receiver, CD player, speakers in any condition will be considered.
