"Morning Mist" by Edith Jones 1966- limited edition print 6/12
Edith Victoria Jones, born in Victoria in 1918 lived in Sydney for many years. Edith started painting about 1953. She studied under Herbert Siebner and Arnold Burrell and was particularly interested in landscape and plant themes. Using these subjects she did extensive work with silk-screen prints and received honourable mention in the jury shows of the Art Gallery of Greater Victoria in 1967. She was awarded first prize in the 1964 Alberni Valley exhibition. Her silkscreens are in the collection of the Art Gallery of Greater Victoria.
Edith Jones is a listed Canadian Artist with the National Gallery of Canada, and is also listed in "A Dictionary of Canadian Artists" by Collin S. MacDonald.
