Chamber of Horrors
Inside a windowless trailer, owned by David Parker Ray and his girlfriend Cynthia Hendy, called the 'Toybox,' which was a real life, $100,000 torture chamber. It was equipped with whips, chains, pulleys, straps, clamps, leg spreader bars, and surgical blades and saws. A camcorder stood next to the leather-padded torture table--set up for making "snuff" videos--while a ceiling-mounted video monitor allowed female victims to see every excruciating detail of the agonies inflicted on them by their captors.
"Never Trust A Chained Captive"
That was one of the rules Ray kept posted as a reminder to himself and his followers. Its truth was proven after surviving a three-day torture orgy when Cyndi Vigil, stabbed Hendy with an ice pick in the neck and escaped, clad only in a slave/dog collar and padlocked chains. She told police that she had been kidnapped, raped and tortured by Ray and Hendy. A second victim, Angie Montano, came forward to describe how she had survived a similar ordeal less than a month before.
Satanist Ray was the center of a web of sadism, sex slavery and murder. His disciple confessed to strangling to death Marie Parker, while Ray took photos. Ray's daughter Jesse, was convicted of helping her father kidnap and torture Kelli Van Cleve. Cynthia Hendy told authorities that Ray had killed 14 women and police believe that he may have slain more than 60.
Having read hundreds of forensic books, I must say that this book is one of the most horrific and well written. So much so that the reader begins to feel as though they are actually strapped/chained in the Ray's 'Toybox'.
