Attention collectors, historians, and artists!
In over 30 years of collecting I thought I had seen everything......and suddenly I am in possession of this unique treasure: a battered suitcase filled with hundreds of 1940's and 1950's vintage promotional advertising pencils from businesses in the Ottawa area, the Valley and across Canada!
They have been neatly grouped alphabetically inside old bound paper bags, with the first letter of the business written (in pencil, of course) on the outside of the bag.
I have only opened up a couple of the lettered bags, here's some of the names of the companies starting with the letter 'R':
Rolly's Men's Wear 1063 Wellington St.
Richmond Bus Line
Ridgedale Hotel Ridgedale Sask.
Cafe Rex Lachute Quebec
Ernest Racine Marchand General Casselman On.
Rama Agencies Winnipeg Man.
Noel Robillard Plumber Sorel Quebec
Royal Purple Seeds + Feeds London On.
Henri Ricard Seller Hull Quebec.
Herb Robinson Flour Feed Hay Grain Maxville On.
Irving Rivers Byward Market Ottawa
The rest of the suitcase is guaranteed to hold names of some long lost and forgotten companies from Ottawa, the Valley and the rest of Canada. This is a great lot for historians, collectors of vintage advertising pencils, Canadiana, or an artist looking to put together a really unique art installation!
What are these worth? I'm not really sure, so I'm asking for the best offer.
