$35 · Victorian Gaudy Welsh (Imari) Condiment Set (1880)
Victorian Gaudy Welsh (Imari) condiment set. Made in England circa 1880. This charming condiment set consists of an open salt, a peppershaker and a lidded mustard pot. The lids are marked EPNS but the silver plate has worn through to the underlying metal. The cobalt blue, coral and gilt patterns are still bright and shiny and there are no chips or cracks in the pieces. The peppershaker must have been used more often than the mustard pot because some of the gilt overlay has worn off the shaker. The shaker and mustard pot are about 3 inches tall and 1¾ inches in diameter. The open salt is about 2 inches in diameter and 1¾ inches tall. This set would make a nice addition to a Gaudy Welsh collection.
