Victorian Wash Pitcher. This gorgeous, Aesthetic Movement ironstone water pitcher was produced by Ridgways Potteries (Stoke on Trent, Staffordshire, England) in the Indus pattern. It is a transfer ware pattern of exotic birds and foliage on a cream background in tones of tan, brown, and burgundy, with lustre on the handle. This use of multiple colours is rare since you more commonly see the pattern in blue and white or brown and white. The maker's mark on the bottom indicates that the pitcher was produced on June 15, 1877. The jug is 11 inches tall and 8 inches from spout to handle. It is in excellent condition.
