$40 · Vintage Art Deco pastry dish by James Kent, 'Apple Blossom' pattern
Vintage Art Deco condiment or pastry dish by James Kent Ltd. (England) in the Apple Blossom pattern. Circa 1950. The plate also has two molded handles and molded ridges in the centre, which would suggest that the dish was originally used to serve olives or pickles where the runnels would catch surplus oil or brine. There are no chips or cracks but some wear to the gilt edging and minor crazing which is visible on the back. It measures 8½ inches (22 cm) by 6¾ inches (17.5 cm) and stands about 1¼ inches (3 cm) tall. Note: While it is not an exact match, Apple Blossom is very similar to Royal Winton Grimwades' Summertime and James Kent's Du Barry pattern.
