Vintage Baby Elephant Cookie Jar from the 1950's. This cute cookie jar was made by the American Bisque Company, which operated in the United States from 1919 to 1982. While it is unmarked, the cookie jar has the trademark wedge shaped bottom that was used by the company (as can be seen in the photograph). The up-looped trunk acts as the handle for the lid. There is a picture of this jar in the book entitled: American Bisque Cookie Jar - Planter Collector Value Price Guide, which was published in 1994. The piece is in good used condition; there are no chips, cracks or crazing on the outside, although some minor crazing and staining is visible on the inside at the bottom.
The jar stands 11 inches (28 cm) to the top of the baby bonnet and is 6 inches (15¼ cm) wide.
